Today, the Boys State flag chant competition was cut short and replaced with a banner competition, which Sabine won.
Many outside Sabine Parish are upset and disgruntled, feeling that the competition was unfair, suggesting that all the hard work they put into practicing and rehearsing songs was “thrown in the trash.” Alternatively, other citizens reported that the change of pace is nice.
Despite their victory, some Sabine citizens have mixed opinions about the outcome. Many are excited and proud that they won. One citizen said, “You know, on the second day we got clowned for our flag not being completed, and then we came back on the 4th day, and we won because of having the best banner.” However, some Sabine Parish citizens want a “real win” in order to prove that they aren’t just being handed an easy victory.
