Dance is an incredibly important part of culture, fostering self-expression and community building. On Wednesday, June 25, 2026, the Toussaint House decided upon the dance move that would represent the people of Louisiana Boys State: the Louisiana Jig.
The Louisiana Jig is a dance rooted deeply in Louisiana’s Community, though it has become increasingly popular among young people. It involves a dancer vigorously shaking their arms while jumping and performing other leg movements, usually while centered in a dance circle.
Amendments to the bill will introduce the dance to school curricula using existing allocated funds for physical education programs. Adapted amendments to the bill require those who dance poorly to repeat it until they execute it properly or until their dance moves are considered “valid” by their peers.
This bill is intended to provide the Louisiana Boys State citizens with an outlet for their expression.
The undoubtedly humorous implementation of such a bill is sure to foster connections among the parishes, uniting all citizens around a pre-existing staple of Gen-Z culture.
