The crafting of the parish song is one of the most important events of Louisiana Boys State. The Daily Magnolia interviewed citizens from many different parishes to gauge their progress with their songs. While none of the groups interviewed were willing to share specific details about their songs, they were more than happy to give our reporter an overview.
Pearl Parish has delegated the task of crafting the parish song to a select few of their citizens. Apparently, most of the song is completed.
Cane has gone for a parody and written all the lyrics. One outspoken citizen is adamant that his parish sing a different song from the one they’ve chosen, so there may be a last-minute change to their selection.
Bogafalaya is simply adding the finishing touches to their song: changing a handful of lyrics to make them flow better together and rehearsing. Along with that, there may be a solo with snapping as accompaniment. Additionally, their song may be a combination of two songs into one.
In summary, it looks like it’s going to be quite the concert, so be prepared to see the citizens of Boys State sing their hearts out on the program’s final day.
