Corruption in the Power of Voting

As you all know, Party Day at Boys State happened on Wednesday. Nominees for state offices were selected and voted on by the Citizen body, yet many have a problem with how the voting process went. Vote trading and Parish Party Chairmen voting on candidates incorrectly rubbed a lot of Citizens the wrong way, and many called it corruption.

Atchafalaya and Pearl Parishes participated in the vote trading. However, Pearl broke this agreement. Despite the vote trading agreement falling through, many Citizens had a problem with it being instituted in the first place, arguing that it was corrupt. In that same vein, many Citizens felt that PPCs voting on behalf of the whole Parish was wrong, as some votes were allegedly cast for a candidate that the citizens did not vote for.

The following morning at Parish meetings, the PCs tried to clear this up. They gave a long talk to the Citizens to ease their nerves, urging them to realize that the ways people got votes were largely unregulated and were thus not corrupt. The PCs urged all the citizens to vote for who they thought was the best candidate, and so we here at Press will as well. We urge that you vote for the candidate that you believe is the best. Do your research, and good luck to everyone who will be running for state office.
