School Board Perseverance

The School Board has recently encountered a considerable challenge: compensating for a hefty 8% budget cut. To deal with the issue, action has been taken to adjust funding to certain expenses. Such expense adjustments include: managing Capital outlay in favor of maintaining present systems over-paying for new ones, cutting funding for charter schools, designing an economical “teaching by watching” system to facilitate the education of more citizens, and other movements. Serious adjustments like these are difficult but necessary. The countermeasures to the struggles faced by the board are answered by their own mission statement: “strive for community engagement . . . through extracurricular involvement”. Said involvement was evident in the Board’s approach of splitting into groups to individually tackle the otherwise herculean task. In the words of Junior Counselors: “The School Board is serious in considerations beyond the difficulty,” and “It is a silver lining to be able to prove their mission statement.” It is a representation of the integrity of the School Board to be able to effectively answer challenges.
