On Thursday, June 25, 2026, Louisiana Boys State’s Louis Armstrong Court convened to hear a case involving a volatile love triangle that resulted in shots being fired. It was alleged that Jonah Brian, a Louisiana Boys State native, shot at his friend Andrew Myer after an argument sparked by Jonah’s relationship with Andrew’s ex-wife, Serena. While Andrew was not injured, his garage was damaged from the attempted attack. While the legal defense sought to cast doubt on the investigation that led to the arrest, Jonah was ultimately convicted of assault and sentenced to five years in prison.
According to Serena Myer, she believed Jonah to be innocent, finding it consistent with her ex-husband’s character to stage a shooting. In her words, “I think it was an act out of spite, and that Andy shot at his own house to get back [at us].” She testified in court that Andrew was always emotionally distant and prone to anger, leading her to confide in Jonah. She clarified that the two did not begin a romantic relationship until after she’d separated from her former spouse.
The prosecutor, Attorney Jake Thomas, was pleased with the outcome of the court case, stating that he was sure the public would side with the ruling. “I think the public will see that Jonah Brian was guilty, but of course, if they look at the evidence, they will form their own opinion.” He affirmed that his primary objective in this case was to uphold the law.
Conversely, the defense was disappointed in this ruling, with attorney Jordan McMurray noting that he believes the court’s decision was due in large part to his own underperformance rather than to his irrefutable evidence against his client. Appeals may be underway.
What are your thoughts on this case? Regardless, the citizens of Louisiana Boys State should feel at ease knowing that their legal system is actively working to make sure no crime goes unpunished.
