It is no surprise that the parishes of the 51st Boys State have had vigorous competition this week of LABS. JCs and PCs have led their citizens to defend their banners, LABS flag, and mascots through thick and thin from opposing parishes. One rivalry that has stood out specifically is that of Sabine and Pearl parish. Who, since Day 1, have participated in chant battles to show their supremacy.
Disregarding their dispute, today the parishes very surprisingly had a change of attitudes. Davis Grozinger and Chase Trammell of Plaquemines, Sabine Parish highlighted how unplanned the friendship was. “One day we decided to be friends and unite against Mississippi instead,” they stated. In addition, the PCs and Parish Presidents played a vital role. Grozinger stated that the PCs and staff of both parishes “shook hands and chanted together” shortly after to express their support for one another, because the parishes “are like bros now.”
Pearl Parish had very similar compliments to share. Colin Rauschenbach of Orleans City, Pearl Parish, agrees that PC José of Sabine played the largest role in the union, responding that PC José is the “one who united us, and now he’s like our second PC.” Caven Falterman and Daymeon Magee of Orleans agreed, remarking that PC José is “just so fire” for uniting them so suddenly and quickly. Furthermore, they added that the parishes sing a mutual happy birthday song instead of chanting against each other.
