School Board Heavily Against Implementation of Gender Neutral Bathrooms

The topic of implementing gender neutral bathrooms into schools statewide was brought up today in front of the BESE (Board of Elementary and Secondary Education) in a school board meeting. When asked from parish to parish, most agreed that these bathrooms would only be an extra cost to add to the budget or another hassle for security.

Pearl Parish had a unique perspective, pointing out that a faculty bathroom could be repurposed since they are rarely used anyway. Once the capitol rises, the gender neutral bathroom itself will be built.

In the end, however, this issue was dismissed, causing gender neutral bathrooms to remain absent in Louisiana schools for the time being.
