In a closely contested event, Mississippi Parish clinched the coveted LABS flag for demonstrating the most spirit (for the second time), sparking a range of reactions from other participating parishes. The victory was celebrated with enthusiasm by Mississippi Parish citizens, while some competing parishes expressed disappointment and skepticism about the outcome.
Bogafalya Parish citizens felt strongly that they should have been the rightful winners. Jackson Mhaoue voiced his frustration, stating, “We should’ve totally got it; we chanted our own original chant while Mississippi chanted a song.” Liam Christopher emphasized the importance of originality and coordination, saying, “The only way to victory is to keep it original and coordinated.”
Even within the JC community, opinions were divided. JC Roger of Bogafalya Parish commented, “Can’t even be mad, we’re all here to have fun, but it did hurt me a little. I commend the SCs who think they did deserve it.”
Mississippi Parish citizens, on the other hand, firmly believed their victory was well-deserved. Michael Radka remarked, “We show enough pride as we can, including our mascot in our chant. They just wanna be us.” JC Walker expressed pride in his parish, stating, “I’m proud of my guys. As a whole, we fight, we take what’s ours, and we stand on business.”
Pearl Parish had a different take, believing their chant was the best and that Bogafalya should have been given more consideration. Meanwhile, Atachafalya Parish citizens went a step further, suggesting the entire competition was rigged and that neither Bogafalya nor Mississippi Parish should have won.
Despite the differing opinions, the spirit of competition and camaraderie among the parishes remained evident. As the dust settles, the focus shifts to the next event, where parishes will once again vie for the top spot, bringing their unique brand of spirit and enthusiasm.
